After a blogpost by CodeNameOne unleashed a torrent of JavaFX-directed angst at the start of the month, the community surged forward to offer solutions for the future trajectory of the platform. One firm advocate for JavaFX is Gluon co-founder Johan Vox, who earned a Duke’s Choice Award at this year’s JavaOne for his efforts in maintaining JavaFX on the desktop. In this interview, we discuss the power of the JavaFX community, and why Vox believes JavaFX is a ‘perfect’ solution for getting Java on mobile. We also discuss why Oracle’s reveal that they will be contributing to an effort to get ‘pure Java’ on mobile is something to really be excited about. Filmed at Devoxx 2015.
